About this model

A slim rack that keeps eggs on ramps inside a body just 7 cm wide, so they roll down to a cup at the front where you take the next one. It holds up to 22 eggs, or 17 in a fridge with no room above its top layer.

The two halves of the body and the front cup print without supports and are pinned together with short lengths of 1.75 mm filament through five channels, so it needs no screws or glue. Assembled, it is 30 cm long, 7 cm wide and 18.5 cm tall.

What you need

From the creator’s instructions

In this download

  • Two body halves and the front cup.

You also need

  • A few short lengths of 1.75 mm filament, to pin the parts together.
  • A craft knife.

Before printing

  • Print all three parts without supports.
  • The body halves are 185 × 247 mm, sized for a 256 mm bed; the creator offers a separate version for smaller printers.

Assembly

  1. Hold the parts together and push 1.75 mm filament into each of the five channels between them.
  2. Check through the opening underneath that each piece of filament has gone all the way in.
  3. Score the filament with a craft knife where it leaves the channel and snap it off.
  4. If filament will not go in from the left, try the chamfered right-hand side, or open the channel slightly with a tool.

How to use it

  1. Load eggs at the top and take them from the cup at the front.
  2. If eggs jam when it is very full, shake the rack gently to free them.
